Publication Charge Policy | In order to maintain a sustainable open access platform, so that we may continue to serve as a conduit for communication among and within our scholarly communities at-large, an article processing charge is levied on all unsolicited manuscripts accepted for publication and regardless of article type. The article processing charge is payable to BPG by the author(s) or research sponsor(s). The publication fee is waived for solicited manuscripts. In addition, the journal does not have article submission charges. |

Peer Review Policy |
Upon submission of any manuscript for consideration for publication in a journal published by the BPG, the scientific editor first performs a search of the Web of Science, Google and/or PubMed databases to determine the topical relevance and timeliness of the manuscript’s content as well as to make an initial assessment of potential academic misconduct related to the general features of the study and/or topical content. The results of this initial review are either approval to enter into the peer review process (Blind peer review) or rejection. The first step in the peer review process involves delivery of the manuscript to 1 to 3 external reviewers with expertise in the paper’s topic and/or field. The reviewers are allotted a period of 14 to 28 days in which to thoughtfully assess the manuscript and return comments to the editorial office, at which time the editorial director conducts a decision-making meeting to assess the reviewers’ comments. Manuscripts that have received positive comments and meet the general publication requirements of BPG and any specific requirements of the particular journal are forwarded directly to the editor-in-chief, who provides signatory approval recommending that the manuscript is “To Be Accepted”. If the manuscript fails to meet the high-quality standard assessed by the peer reviewers or does not meet the BPG and/or journal-specific criteria, it is rejected. All manuscripts recommended for acceptance must pass a final review by the editor-in-chief before they are officially accepted for publication and entered into the production phase. |
Initiatives | The BPG uses an open-access and peer review publishing model to support our goals of maximizing benefits to readers, authors and editors by promoting the open and transparent exchange of ideas and research findings among scientists as well as members of the public. BPG journals (https://www.wjgnet.com/bpg/journals.htm) cover a broad range of topics in clinical medicine, as well as several topics in biochemistry and molecular biology, relevant to human health today. All authors can submit their articles via “F6Publising” (https://www.f6publishing.com), an artificial intelligence-based system that integrates the functions of online manuscript submission, peer review, manuscript revision by authors, manuscript production, manuscript publishing and release, editing and publishing management, and statistics of publishing fees and costs. F6Publishing complies with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics. The main innovations include functionalities for published articles’ processes, release of manuscript-related documents together with the manuscript, and all-article search across journals. F6Publishing facilitates the healthy development of the OA journals, allowing more efficient and effective services for authors and readers. |
