This September three OASPA board members reach the end of their 3 year terms and an election was held to determine who will fill the 3 available seats. OASPA Member organisations were invited to put a name forward to the OASPA Nominations Committee earlier in the year. OASPA is grateful to all of the candidates who stood for election.

Members were then asked to choose three candidates from the list of nominees, and to vote for them in no particular order.  All votes cast were strictly confidential.  The 3 candidates who received the highest number of votes in the election were Paul Peters, Eelco Ferwerda and Carrie Calder.

The OASPA Board are pleased to have Paul’s continued involvement.  As a founding member of OASPA, Conference Chair for several years and more recently as President, Paul has played a vital role in the activities of the Association. The board is also delighted to welcome two new board members, but who are of course familiar faces in the open access community:  Eelco Ferwerda and Carrie Calder.

Eelco Ferwerda is Director of OAPEN which operates two platforms, the OAPEN library and the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB), and provides services for , libraries and research funders in the areas of dissemination, quality assurance and digital preservation.  Carrie Calder joins us from Palgrave Macmillan where she is Strategy Director for Open Research and is responsible for developing the company’s open research policies and business strategy.

Of course it is with regret that we see the conclusion of the term of service for Astrid van Wesenbeeck and Inge Werner.  As Treasurer and Secretary for OASPA respectively, Astrid and Inge have been instrumental in the day to day running of OASPA and the Board wholeheartedly thanks them for all of their hard work  and support.
