Peer Review Policy
Bangladesh Journal of Pharmacology peer-reviews the manuscripts of Mini-reviews, Meta-analysis, Clinical Trials, Visual Experiments and Research Articles. Letters to the Editor are not peer-reviewed. Each manuscript, after submission, is initially read by the editorial board (internal editorial review). To save the time of the authors and peer-reviewers, only the manuscript that meet the Criteria for Publication are sent to two external reviewers for comment.

Selection of Peer-reviewers:
One of the critical processes of publishing a manuscript is the method of selection of reviewers. The editor is responsible for the selection of two independent reviewers for each selected manuscript. Emphasis is given on the expertise, reputation, and those given specific recommendation(s).

Timing:
Bangladesh Journal of Pharmacology is committed to timely editorial decisions and publication. An efficient editorial process is a valuable service both to our authors and to the scientific community. We therefore request reviewers to respond promptly (within 3 working days). If a reviewer agrees to review the manuscript, then the manuscript is sent to him/her by email. The typical period of time allowed for review is 3 weeks.

Editorial Decision:
The editor then takes a decision based on the reviewers’ comment. The decision may be any one of the following:

– Accept, with or without editorial revision
– Suggest the authors Revise the manuscript to address specific concerns before a final decision is reached
– Reject, but inform the authors that further work might justify a Resubmit
– Reject, typically on grounds of specialist interest, lack of novelty, insufficient conceptual advance or major technical and/or interpretational problem

The editorial decision is not always based on counting votes or score of assessments. Instead, the editor may evaluate the strengths and weakness of the manuscript to make a final decision.
