Peer Review Policy | Book and journal article submissions undergo rigorous peer review to ensure scholarly excellence. Peer review of books is facilitated by experienced assistant editors to help prepare the content of your manuscript for publishing. If published within a series, manuscripts are also reviewed in coordination with series editors who are experts in the field, supported by balanced editorial boards in specialization and geographical location. Since many of our books are published within series, decisions can be taken relatively quickly because a network of reviewers is often in place. A growing number of Brill journals use the online submission service Editorial Manager to streamline peer review. Upon acceptance, an article submitted to any Brill journal can be published as open access. |
Initiatives | Brill Open is Brill’s open access publishing model. It covers Journals, Articles, Books and Chapters. Articles can be published in hybrid journals, full open access journals or books. Brill Open Books cover edited volumes and scholarly monographs. Green OA already allowed since 2009. Brill funds the IFLA / BRILL Open Access Award. Brill co-sponsors DOAB (www.doabooks.org) and Brill OA books are listed in DOAB. Brill co-sponsors DOAJ and Brill Journals are listed in DOAJ (www.doaj.org).
