Precision Nanomedicine has recently become a member of OASPA in the Scholar Publisher category, further enriching the growing community of members. To gain more insight into their recent affiliation with OASPA and to learn more about them, we conducted an interview with Lajos Balogh, Editor-in-Chief.

Q. Tell us a bit about your organisation and the service it provides – and your role within it?

I am the president of a scholar publisher, Andover House, Inc., and the Editor-in-Chief of Precision Nanomedicine, a platinum open-access, peer-reviewed international journal.

Q. Why did you decide to join OASPA and what do you hope to get out of your OASPA membership?

We joined OASPA to demonstrate that we fulfill the robust membership requirements to increase our credibility and authenticity as an open access publisher

Q. How is your organization showing its commitment to making globally equitable participation in open scholarly communication a reality?

Thanks to our donors and supporters the journal is free to publish and read. The majority (70%) of the journal’s editorial board members are scientists and thought leaders from 31 countries, including Europe, Asia, India, Africa, and South America, and only 30% are from the USA. https://precisionnanomedicine.com/editorial-board

In addition to scientific leaders, we invite and promote young scientists, “Rising Talents” (based on board members’ suggestions) These young scientists from 9 countries are the future of nanomedicine. (https://precisionnanomedicine.com/pages/10-the-rising-talents-list). This broad and increasing inclusion helps to raise awareness of social justice issues, and regular communication between Board members promotes empathy and understanding. We support authors to publish the best version of work.

Q. What challenges must funders and institutions overcome to create incentive systems that treat open publishing practices as beneficial for career development?

Identify fake publications and predatory publishers, fight and discredit them, but support the real small non-commercial ones.

Q. How do you think OASPA can help mitigate those challenges?

OASPA has an extensive database for both categories. Thus, it may recommend scholar publishers to funders to support

Q. Is there anything else you wish to share?

Based on their career-long citation numbers, forty-eight members of the Precision Nanomedicine Editorial Board are on the World’s Top 2% Scientists list, and twenty-five of them belong to the top 1% of scientists (see https://doi.org/10.17632/btchxktzyw.6), which is a testimony to the journal’s full commitment to innovation, research, and development. In 2023, our 90,915 unique visitors came from 172 countries.
